About Kata

“Special mother-of-pearl shell, special paints, own technology, traditional motifs
and the inspiration provided by the nature of Zselic - these are the components of Balázs Kata Jewelry.
Plus the commitment to creative work, a lot of humility, and the mission: jewelry from soul to soul.

Balázs Kata - The Woman Behind the Jewelry

As a young child, Kata recognized that she was destined to create. Life wanted to be sure, so it also provided her with a helper in the form of her maternal grandfather. From him, Kata received tools, recognition, encouragement, and patience. Their joint efforts soon bore fruit; at the age of 12, Kata made her first jewelry pieces on commission, and not just for anyone. A store selling clothes created by artisans became her regular client, as the owner saw that Kata's jewelry was a worthy complement to the clothes they offered.

The young artist's fate was already sealed at that time. However, Life wanted Kata to be sure of herself as well. Thus, a brief detour into the world of finance followed, which left a sufficiently deep impression on her to ultimately decide that she would dedicate her life to jewelry making. First, she had to find the perfect material for herself, the mother-of-pearl. Then, for an entire year, she experimented to develop the currently patented painting technique that makes Balázs Kata jewelry so distinctive and unmistakable.

The rest is history. At the age of 22, she stepped into the public eye with her nature-inspired, uniquely designed, hand-painted mother-of-pearl jewelry specialties. In the following years, she became a regular at Hungary's most prestigious fairs. The success was almost immediate and explosive: not only did customers love the jewelry, many became fans. All this clearly shows that when someone purchases one of Kata's pieces, it is about more than just the mere possession of a trinket. Fans claim that some kind of connection, difficult to express in words but all the more perceptible, develops between the jewelry and its wearer.

All this would be enough reason for someone to sit back. But Kata is not that type. She regularly has her work judged to receive professional feedback, continuously works on improving the technology, and searches for even better materials. In 2019, she decided to take it to the next level and make available to the whole world what Hungarian women have been passionate about for more than two decades.
